Biography

Daniel began his career as a media planner at Aegis Group before moving to Publicis Groupe to work on Renault. There he pioneered a data-led approach to choosing music for advertising, cross-referencing car-buying data with music purchasing and radio listening.

After joining Capital Radio in 1998 as a creative consultant for brands, he founded Sonicbrand in 1999 with Paul Fulberg: the UK's first music branding agency, with British American Tobacco as its founding client. In 2003 Palgrave Macmillan published his book Sonic Branding, the first book on the discipline.

In 2009 he co-founded the business that became CORD Worldwide with Elisa Harris and Paul Fulberg, backed by Cutting Edge Group. CORD combined music planning with licensing and composition at scale, worked with McCann and JWT, became music agency of record for Nescafé and delivered the ITV rebrand and Shell's Make the Future campaign, which won Clio awards. Over a decade CORD billed more than £30m. It was sold to Keywords Studios plc in 2018. In 2013 he co-wrote Hit Brands.

He has chaired Laced Music, a music company for games, sat on the board of Cutting Edge Group and advised Music Gateway, Songtradr and TALEA. In 2020 he relaunched Sonicbrand. Today he is CEO of Age of Audio (formerly Enchant Group), the London music and sound group behind Sonicbrand, RESISTER and WMP. Sonicbrand's recent work includes the sonic identity for CEER, Saudi Arabia's first homegrown car brand, which won Gold for Best Audio Brand at the Transform Awards.

He studied at the University of Leeds and lives in London.
